About the Role

The Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team and support the financial operations of the Island’s leading business and tourism organization. This part-time position offers flexibility, a dynamic work environment, and the opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization that supports the vitality and growth of Martha’s Vineyard’s business community.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proficient in accounting software, and comfortable managing a wide range of financial tasks from invoicing to reporting.




Key Responsibilities

- Manage and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable

- Record all financial transactions accurately in QuickBooks Online

- Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements

- Assist with payroll processing and reporting

- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records

- Prepare financial summaries and reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors

- Support preparation for annual audits and tax filings

- Monitor program budgets and assist with grant-related financial tracking

- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting policies and procedures




Qualifications

- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred)

- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, and Google Workspace

- Understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

- Strong organizational and time-management skills

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Discretion and professionalism with confidential information




Schedule

This position is part-time, 20 hours per week, with some flexibility in scheduling. On-island presence is preferred, with limited hybrid flexibility for the right candidate.




Compensation

- Based on experience. 20 hours per hour.
